Via serves as the official application endorsed by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) for managing the payment of the lump-sum heavy vehicle charge (PSVA). This application facilitates quick and convenient PSVA payments, accessible from virtually any location at any time.

The app is specifically designed for certain vehicles that are not registered in Switzerland and exceed a total weight of 3.5 tonnes, including motorhomes and coaches. Once a valid PSVA receipt is obtained, users can select any border crossing for entry into Switzerland, providing a notable advantage by allowing access even outside standard operating hours, thus negating the need for stops at border checkpoints.

Notably, registration is not a prerequisite for utilizing Via, enhancing its user-friendliness. The receipt generated through the app is readily available for viewing and is also sent via email to ensure accessibility. Furthermore, Via is free to download and use.
